Well a lovely day and I am off for the day to make beads, I have been making stone crosses at the moment and find these really interesting, I love the simplicity of them.  I will try to post a photo later, also I have been working on Terra again, this new and lovely glass is a bit tricky, however I have been getting some nice colours and will have a set for sale a bit later on today.

I have some new beads up for sale and more will appear later today, hope everyone is enjoying the fantastic weather here in the UK.

Back again

I haven't had much time for writing, been very busy. I have been making new beadies of course and in answer to Laura who asked about the glass on the blue beads, yes its the DH terra, very difficult to get the hang of and you need to persevere with it, good luck Laura if you do give it a try.

This one I made recently is a particular favourite and I am not ready to sell it just yet.

I just love the colours in this bead and also its a nice shape.

I also had some good results with Monet silvered glass and was really pleased with the effects I got with it, this bead below is what I made.

I will be posting up loads of beads over the next four or five days as I have a holiday from my job and will be making beads.

Hope everyone is having a great bank holiday.

Terra special glass

I have been playing for a couple of days with this glass and finally have managed to get some colours out of it.  I have made a couple of focals as well because the colours remind me of sunsets.

These first two will be part of a set of 5 I am making.

This is "Sunset over the Ocean"

and this is my idea of "Sunset over the Mountains"

I am very moved by Sunsets but find that it is a difficult to paint them as the colours are so strong they are almost unbelievable.

I think my favourite is the sunset over the mountains as it is more subtle.

Hope you all had a wonderful Bank Holiday, as for me I was of course making beadies.

Nyx Glass

Well finally I have got my hands on some of the Nyx glass and have had loads of fun playing with it.  This is such a cool glass and very easy to get reactions from.

The photo shows the first thing I made with it.

I have also been buying beads and managed to win some of Dora Schuberts beads, these are lovely, I have no idea what I will do with them but they are lovely to just look at and touch.

Here they are - China Red

Finally I made my first Fairy bead a couple of weeks ago and was really pleased with it, its not quite right yet but I feel I am nearly there with it. Will be making more of these so I can get some up for sale.

A poem

A lovely friend of mine has written a poem for me, needless to say I am delighted, what could be nicer than that.

Anyhow here it is and I hope you like it as much as I do.

The Beadmaker

by Joy McCall

She moves the hot flame
Over and around the glass
Again and again,
The melting colours roll and twist
And circle, slow-dancing together.
She is spellbound, bewitched, entranced,
But too soon the music dies,
The dance ends,
The flame goes out,
The colours cool,
And holding the shining bead in her tired hands,
She sees all the little loose pieces of her soul,
Trapped in the sinuous swirls forever.
